AEGIS is proud to announce the election of senior staff member Barry Dickman to the Healthcare Information & Management Systems Society (HIMSS) National Capital Area (NCA) Chapter Board of Directors. HIMSS-NCA’s mission is to promote professional approaches to the development, operation, and improvement of healthcare information management systems that benefit the local healthcare community while working collaboratively with the HIMSS national office.
Barry recently served as HIMSS-NCA Secretary. He has been an active member of the HIMSS-NCA Chapter since 2008 holding numerous roles on the Board and Committees. He held the role of Programs Committee Co-Chair for over four years. Throughout that time, HIMSS-NCA has seen growth and diversity in the chapter’s programs including an average attendance increase from 75 to well-over 200 registrations per educational event. He led the initiative to draft a Programs Committee Handbook that defined roles and responsibilities, timelines and processes ensure training, guidance and process to make chapter educational programs a success and increase attendance. This tool was used as a template for other committees to model. He has also participated in the Financial Review Committee confirming the approval of the annual budget and independent audit of the Chapter. Finally, his involvement in the Webinar Subcommittee helped to attract speakers that represented the Federal healthcare arena and top health IT challenges and success stories.
